Database Systems

Database Systems, a database is an organized collection of structured information or data usually stored in an electronic format or in a computer system. Typically, the database is under the control of a database management system (DBMS). Together, data and DBMS, along with their related applications, are referred to as a database system and are often shortened to the database only.

Usually, data within the most popular types of databases in use today is formatted in the form of rows and columns in a series of tables to leverage data processing and querying. The data can then be accessed, managed, modified, updated, controlled, and organized with ease. Most databases use the Structured Query Language (SQL) to write and query data.

SQL queries in dbms
SQL is a programming language that almost all relational databases use to query, manipulate, and define data, and to provide access control. SQL was first developed at IBM in 1970 and Oracle was a major contributor, which led to the implementation of the SQL ANSI standard, as SQL spurred many expansions from companies such as IBM, Oracle, and Microsoft. Although SQL is still widely used today, new programming languages ​​are emerging.

Databases have evolved dramatically since the early 1960s. Mobility databases such as hierarchical databases (which relied on a tree-like model and allowed only a one-to-many relationship), and network databases (a more flexible model that allowed multiple relationships) were the only systems used to store and manipulate data.

SQL Server database engine
Simple as they were, these early systems were not flexible. NoSQL databases have emerged as a result of the growth of the Internet and the need for greater speed and faster processing of unstructured data.

There are many different types of databases. Which database is best for a particular organization depends on how the organization intends to use the data.

SQL Server administration
A database usually requires a comprehensive database software known as a Database Management System (DBMS). DBMS acts as an interface between the databases and their end-users or programs, allowing users to retrieve and update information and manage the way the information is organized and improved. The DBMS also makes it easy to monitor and control databases, enabling a variety of administrative operations, such as performance monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery.

Databases are object-oriented
In object-oriented databases, information is represented in the form of objects, as in object-oriented programming.

Distributed databases
A distributed database consists of two or more files in different locations. The database can be stored on multiple computers located in the same physical location or distributed across different networks.

Data warehouses
A data warehouse is a central repository of data and a type of database designed specifically for quick inquiry and analysis.

database languages ​​in dbms
NoSQL or non-relational databases allow for unstructured or semi-structured data to be stored and manipulated (as opposed to a relational database that defines how all the data entered is created). NoSQL databases are gaining popularity as web applications are becoming more popular and more sophisticated.

Graphic databases
Graphic databases store data in a way that relates to entities and the relationships that exist between entities.

OLTP databases
OLTP Database is a fast and analytical database designed for a large number of transactions performed by multiple users.
