Introduction to Networks

Introduction to networks, networks are a connection between computers, with tools and programs Designated for network work, in order to allow sharing among them, and information flows across the network in the form of electrical signals and is transmitted as small packets of information at very high speeds. These packets must travel with a high degree of accuracy until they reach free of errors to the desired target.

Or it is a group of units that are distributed on different sites and linked by different means of communication, and they collect and exchange data and subscribe to the resources associated with them.

What is Introduction to networks?

  • A group of calculators.
  • Distributed on different sites.
  • Various means of a communication link them.
  • You collect and share digital data.
  • Subscribe to related resources.

Types of computer networks

Personal Computer Network

  • The spatial space is as small as the size of a room.
  •  Designed to connect personal devices.
  •  It is managed by an individual who owns the network for personal applications.

Local computer network

  • The spatial space is limited, such as the school laboratory, university halls, and company building.
  • Used by individuals or private organizations and companies to connect personal computers and their devices and peripherals distributed in a building or complex.
  • It is managed by a network user such as a school administration, or a company.

Civil Computer Network

  • The area is a city boundary.
  • High-speed transmitter.
  • Used for sending large files, graphics, or photos.
  • Like the main network of banks within the city.
  • It is managed by a government entity such as the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology or a large company.

Extended Computer Network

  • Space extends to a large area towards the network that connects computers in different cities.
  • Varying in speed for the length of distances that extend across the network.
  • It is managed by a public authority or government agency such as the Information Technology and Communications Authority
  • Such as an automated teller network that connects computers with various banks within the entire country, and is managed by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and serves banking applications.

World wide web

  • It is a huge global computer network linking computer networks and devices around the world.
  • Thousands of miles link between computers and networks of different countries.
  • It allows information exchange between network users in different countries.

Network classification

Located in a limited geographic area in a school or home network club building 1 mile away.

The local networks consisted of a small number of devices, perhaps not more than ten connected devices, and they dealt within a limited space such as an office or within one building or several adjacent buildings as much as possible, but now they reach more than that and with high efficiency.
